A small shop, on purpose
You will work with the people doing the work. That is not a growth stage we are passing through — it is the arrangement.
I am Joel. I run Life is an Adventure with Libby, and between us we do the work you would otherwise hire an agency to do: build the site, run the ads, do the search work, and pick up the phone when you call about any of it.
The name is not a slogan we workshopped. Life is an adventure, and so is running a business online — mostly because the map is bad. Every route is marked as the only route, half the guides are selling something, and the person who most needs a straight answer is the one least equipped to spot a bad one. That gap is the entire reason this business exists.
Most of what small businesses get sold in this industry is not fraud. It is vagueness. A monthly report full of numbers that connect to nothing you care about. A website that looks fine and produces nothing. It is not that the work was never done — it is that nobody was ever made to say plainly what it was for.
So we do the opposite, deliberately. We say what we are going to do before we do it, in words you can repeat to someone else. We show you real work — an actual page, not a wireframe — before you commit money. And when a service will not pay for itself in your market, we say so, even though that answer often costs us the sale.
That last one is the whole posture. A guide who takes you up every mountain you ask about is not a guide, they are a porter.
We are small and we intend to stay that way. There is no account management layer here, nobody reading your file for the first time on a Tuesday, and no handoff after you sign. If we ever grow past the point where you can get one of us on the phone, something will have gone wrong.
Four things you can hold us to
Plain English, always
No jargon without a one-line definition. If you cannot repeat what we told you to somebody else, we explained it badly and we will try again.
See it before you commit
Real work up front, not a slide deck. You judge the map before you pay for the trip, and if the direction is wrong we change it then.
The unprofitable truth
If a service will not pay for itself in your market, we will tell you — and point you at what would, even when that is nothing we sell.
The same people, every time
You talk to whoever is doing the work. Nobody gets handed to an account manager, because there is no account manager.
